There is a HIT Global Entrepreneurship Competition taking place at Baarcelona, Spain on 16-19 June 2009.  Singapore is represented by a company which I nurtured and invested from day one. It is called Biochip Devises Pte Ltd which has been selected to take part in the Finals, competing against 28 other companies from around the world.
 
Biochip Devises has made and patented a very low cost (with even lower cost disposable cartridge per test), portable, integrated and automated PCR machine that can do DNA detection of infectious diseases within 15 minutes, and can be operated by non-medical personnel. Current PCR lab machine would take 3-6 hrs and requires trained lab technologist to  carry out the DNA detection work.
