Any interest in Algae Production? I personally think biofuels is overhyped.
Urgent - Need Closed Loop Algae Production
We need to secure an agreement by end of next week for an optimal Algae
production system with a company that has proven experience. Most of the
"Integrated Biorefinery" design has been completed, except for the Algae
production system and the final biodigester.
Several have suggested we change our feedstock away from Algae, but we are
committed to complete this system design with Algae. For example:
"Algae produces up to 30 times more energy per square meter than the next
closest biofuel (Yeang, 2008); For optimal biofuel production a strain of
algae must be chosen that has a high lipid content and a fast growth rate.
The two of these properties typically offset one another (i.e. a high
lipid yield will have a low growth rate). An increase of sterile CO2 will
promote growth of algae and therefore placing the algae in smoke stacks or
power plants will overcome the growth rate problem (Yeang, 2008)"
We would like anyone with Algae experience on producing/capturing Oxygen
and Hydrogen as well. Our single step methane-to-methanol process will
deliver a high quality water and a CO2 feed. We could use the oxygen in
our system if it could be separated and captured.
We need 5-25 tons per day of dry algae, depending on the algae. We need
2-3 tons per day of algae oil for the DOE grant requirements in our process.
Finally, we see enormous potential integrating this process into the
global gas flaring reduction projects we have been designing the past 3
years. There is still plenty of financing in the oil & gas sector for
these projects, and there is more pressure on them to stop flaring by
2012. Our methane conversion process is one key to this associated gas
flaring reduction in combination with the right Algae production partner.
Our commercial and marketing strategy section will be around 60-70 pages
demonstrating the advantages of this design on a global scale. Even if we
do not win this grant, there is still business available for our selected
partners.
